Ember to Orbit — privacy policy
Updated 18 October 2026 · The French version prevails · Français
1. In short
Ember to Orbit collects no personal data outside online play. The game is played without an account, without advertising and without any analytics; your games are saved on your device. Only online play, if you agree to it in the game, sends the publisher's server your orders of each turn and a pseudonym drawn at random (section 3 bis); no name, no address, no e-mail.
2. Who is responsible
The game is published by Aplomb (Jérôme Lasalle, sole trader (entrepreneur individuel) trading as Aplomb, 4 impasse du Couchant, 78630 Morainvilliers, France, trade register RCS Versailles 109 075 572), the "publisher". Contact for any question about your data: contact@aplomb-apps.fr.
3. What the game does with your information
| Information | Where it stays | Who can access it |
|---|---|---|
| Your saved games (state of the world, orders given) | in the app's folder, on your device | you alone; deleted if you delete the game |
| Your settings (language, volume, text size, theme) | on your device | you alone |
| Technical readings of the measurement modes | on your device, only if those modes are started; never in ordinary play | you alone |
Outside online play (section 3 bis), the game sends nothing to any server, neither the publisher's nor anyone else's. It does not use your location: the starting region of a game is drawn at random by the game itself. It does not access your contacts, photos, microphone or camera.
3 bis. Online play (remote games)
It is switched on only after your agreement, given on the game's "Online" screen, which says what is sent.
| Data | Why | Kept |
|---|---|---|
| A random token for your device (the server keeps only an unreadable fingerprint of it) and a pseudonym drawn from the game's lists | to know you from one session to the next, without account or password | 24 months without connection (30 days if never used) |
| Your online games: code, settings, your place and people, your orders of each turn, the fingerprint of the world your device saw | to play the same game on everyone's device | 30 days after the game ends, 90 days without a move |
| In the ranked Duel of Ages: your rating (Glicko-2) and your finished duels (both players, the result checked by the server); your pseudonym and rating appear in the leaderboard, seen by other players | to keep a fair leaderboard, each duel being replayed by the server | the rating with your account; a duel 12 months (30 days if refused) |
| In the Relay of Ages, the handover tips you choose (ready-made phrases, never free text) | to pass it to the game's players, and to them only | with the game; erased with your account |
- Hosting: Supabase, in the European Union, processor of the publisher. No data is sold, nor used for advertising or analytics.
- Legal basis: performance of the service you ask for (playing remotely).
- Your rights: on the "Online" screen, "My data" saves on your device everything the server keeps about you (access, portability); "Delete my account" erases it (erasure); your places then go to the robots, the others' games go on.
4. App stores
The game is distributed through stores (Apple's App Store, Google Play, and others where applicable). When you download or buy the game, the store processes the data it needs (your account, the payment, possibly crash reports you agree to share) as a separate controller, under its own privacy policy. The publisher only receives aggregated, anonymous statistics from the store (downloads, sales, countries) and, if you agreed to it with the store, crash reports without identity.
5. If you write to us
If you write to the publisher (support, a report), your e-mail address and message are used only to answer you. They are kept three years after the last exchange and then deleted. Legal basis: the publisher's legitimate interest in answering its players. Nothing is sold or shared.
6. Children
The game aims at a PEGI 12 rating. Outside online play it collects no data; online, it asks for none that identifies anyone (a pseudonym drawn at random, no free text: the Relay's handover tips are ready-made phrases).
7. Your rights
For online play, see section 3 bis (everything is done from the game). Otherwise your saves are on your device and you can erase them by deleting the game. For messages you sent us, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), by writing to contact@aplomb-apps.fr. You may also contact the French data protection authority, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
8. Changes
No new data will be sent by the game without this policy being updated first and without you being told in the game. Any change is dated at the top of this document.
